John Patchett: Home Page
Professional artist, John Patchett well known for his fresh, vibrant pastel paintings.
He studied at Grimsby School of Art, Kingston upon Thames College of Art and Brighton College of Art, between 1965 and 1971. Settled in Adelaide, Australia where he lived and worked for 19 years. During this period he returned to England regularly to paint and exhibit his work. Besides holding over 30 successful solo shows in Australia and England, John's pastel paintings have been exhibited in exhibitions in Japan, New Zealand and with the "Pastel Society", "The Royal Society of Marine Artists" and the 1997 "Laing Exhibition" at the Mall Galleries, in London.

John has now returned permanently to this country and lives in the East Anglian market town of Beccles, which is conveniently situated to have easy access to a variety of landscape, garden, city and marine subject matter.

He firmly believes that it is necessary to paint, as much as possible, in `plein air', which has resulted in his work having an immediacy and a strong sense of light and warmth.

John feels that the hand can never achieve anything higher than the heart can command, therefore he chooses `special', and inspirational locations, where he can be enthusiastic about his subject and situation.
